- The OMXS30 closed 0.41% higher at 3,280.86 on Thursday, October 29.
- Saab, EQT and Boliden were among the strongest index constituents.
- Boliden's adjusted operating profit exceeded expectations, while healthcare outperformed and consumer staples lagged.
The OMXS30 finished Thursday, October 29, at 3,280.86, up 0.41% from the previous close. The gain extended the Stockholm benchmark's winning streak to five trading sessions, according to Placera. The report said approximately 23.3 billion Swedish kronor was traded across the Stockholm exchange.
Index gains despite uneven opening
Trading began without a clear direction before the index moved higher during the session. The market backdrop included the previous day's unchanged Federal Reserve decision, results from Alphabet and Microsoft, and the European Central Bank's decision to leave its policy rate unchanged, Placera reported. Those factors formed part of the broader setting for Swedish equities, while domestic third-quarter reports continued to drive individual share moves.
Saab and Boliden lead the advance
Saab B was the strongest OMXS30 constituent among the leading stocks cited in the closing report, rising 3.2%. EQT gained 2.3%, while Boliden increased 2.0%. Boliden's adjusted operating profit came in above expectations, although revenue was slightly below market forecasts, according to Investing.com. The mining company's shares rose 1.96% at the close.
Healthcare was the strongest major sector, gaining 0.93%, while consumer staples declined 0.48%, according to Placera. Volvo B and Lifco B were among the weaker OMXS30 names, each falling 0.5%. The mixed sector performance shows that the index advance was supported by selected industrial, materials and healthcare stocks rather than a uniformly strong move across all constituents.
Reporting season remains central
Beyond Boliden, Paradox rose after reporting operating profit above analyst expectations, while Sweco and Nolato weakened after their quarterly results fell short on selected measures. These company-specific reactions continued to shape the index as Sweden's reporting season progressed. The OMXS30's close therefore reflected both the positive contribution from large gainers and counterweights from weaker reporting-related performers.
