- The SDAX closed on November 2, 2026 at 18,218 points, up 0.9 percent.
- Lower oil prices, easing bond yields and stronger German manufacturing data supported the market.
- Init Innovation fell 20.7 percent after cutting its operating-profit forecast, limiting gains in the small-cap index.
The SDAX ended Monday's Xetra session at 18,218 points, up 0.9 percent from the previous close. The small-cap index therefore recovered part of Friday's 1.97 percent decline, when it had finished at 18,046.98 points. The closing level and percentage change were reported by MarketScreener in a Dow Jones Newswires market report published on November 2, 2026.
Oil and yields support German equities
Market participants remained cautious ahead of the US midterm elections, according to the report. At the same time, a marked decline in oil prices reduced inflation concerns and helped market yields move lower. German economic data provided an additional supportive signal: the manufacturing purchasing managers' index rose to 54.2 points in October from 53.9 points in September.
The broader German equity market also advanced. The MDAX gained 1.3 percent to 30,855 points, while the TecDAX rose 0.6 percent to 4,116 points. These comparisons put the SDAX gain into the context of a broadly firmer German session, without implying that the broader market move alone determined the small-cap index's performance.
Init warning limits the recovery
Index performance was held back by a sharp decline in Init Innovation in Traffic. The shares fell 20.7 percent after the company lowered its forecast for operating profit. A report by finanzen.at said the company now expects operating profit of 33 million to 37 million euros for 2026, compared with its previous forecast of 38 million to 42 million euros. The revenue outlook of 380 million to 410 million euros was retained. Init cited weaker market demand related to the intensified geopolitical situation in the Middle East and its effects on oil prices.
What investors should watch
Monday's rise restored some of the ground lost in the previous session, but the index remained exposed to company-specific guidance changes and to the wider technology and geopolitical debate. The next SDAX session will therefore be shaped by fresh company news as well as developments in oil prices, bond yields and US markets. Further SDAX coverage is available on the SDAX topic page.
