The TA-35 ended Thursday's session sharply lower, closing at 3,823.18 points on November 5, 2026. According to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, the benchmark fell 3.69% from its 3,969.53-point close on November 4. That was a decline of 146.35 points, with the index reaching a six-month low.
Broad decline across sectors
The index opened at 3,901.32 points and traded as high as 3,923.71 before finishing at the session low, according to TASE data. The move extended a recent sequence of declines: the index had already fallen 1.96% on November 4, after a 0.29% gain on November 3.
Globes reported that the decline became steeper after US stock markets opened significantly lower. The Tel Aviv Defense Index fell 7.09%, the Tel Aviv Insurance Index dropped 5.07% and the Tel Aviv Technology Index declined 4.78%. The Tel Aviv Construction Index also fell 3.94%, while the Chemicals, Rubber and Plastics Index rose 3.39%.
Technology and defense stocks weigh
Among notable TA-35 constituents, Palo Alto Networks fell 8.28%, Tower Semiconductor lost 8.35%, Bank Hapoalim declined 2.50% and Elbit Systems dropped 7.77%, based on the TASE session data and the Globes market report. Teva was unchanged. ICL Israel Chemicals rose 5.67%, Israel Corporation gained 4.81% and Delta Galil advanced 2.39%, limiting the broader decline.
Trading activity was unusually high. Globes reported equity turnover of NIS 19.39 billion and attributed the elevated volume to the effective revision of the market indices, which required index-tracking funds to adjust their holdings. The TASE page separately reported TA-35 turnover of NIS 10.75 billion.
Market context for investors
The closing level reflects a broad risk-off session rather than a move concentrated in one index constituent: 389 TASE-listed shares fell, compared with 80 advancers, according to Investing.com. The sharpest pressure was visible in technology and defense-related names, while a handful of chemicals and consumer stocks moved higher.
Further developments in US technology and defense shares, together with domestic market rebalancing flows, remain relevant for the next Tel Aviv session. Additional TA-35 coverage is available on the TA-35 topic page.
