Taiwan Weighted (TAIEX) closed at 46,096 points on October 27, 2026, up 55 points or 0.1 percent. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. recovered from early weakness and helped the index finish higher after a wide intraday swing, Focus Taiwan reported.

TSMC rose 0.6 percent to TWD 2,400. Its recovery helped lift the semiconductor subindex by 0.5 percent, while MediaTek fell 1.3 percent and Delta Electronics dropped 3.2 percent, Focus Taiwan said.

The index opened at 46,211 points, reached a high of 46,585 points and fell to a low of 45,677 points. The market opened strongly after gains in U.S. technology stocks, but selling later pushed the index below its previous close before late buying in TSMC stabilized the benchmark.

Trading was mixed across large technology shares. Hon Hai rose 1.0 percent, while MediaTek and Delta Electronics declined. Financial stocks rose 0.7 percent, and the market's gain was narrower than the index move: 541 stocks fell, 483 rose and 102 were unchanged, CNA reported.
