The Tether USDt price remains close to its 1.00 USD target, while the issuer's latest reserve disclosure provides a stronger financial backdrop for the stablecoin. Tether published its third-quarter figures on October 30, but the reported balance-sheet data refers to September 30, 2026.
Reserve cushion nearly doubles
According to Tether, the company generated $1.5 billion in net operating profit during the third quarter and $4.5 billion during the first nine months of 2026. The reserve buffer rose to $7.95 billion from $4.1 billion at the end of the second quarter. Tether said total reserve assets stood at $191.45 billion, against total liabilities of $183.50 billion.
The company also reported $132.4 billion in direct and indirect U.S. Treasury bill holdings. Treasury bills and reverse repurchase agreements continued to provide most of Tether's income, according to the issuer. USDt issuance remained broadly steady at $184 billion across the first three quarters of the year.
What the market data shows
The Investing.com quote page read for this report showed the Tether USDt price at 0.9989 USD. The same page listed a 24-hour volume of $31.59 billion, a market capitalization of $179.89 billion and circulating supply of 180.12 billion USDT. It also showed a 52-week range of 0.9943 to 1.0032 USD. These figures describe the displayed quote and are not a separate measure of the issuer's reserve coverage.
Freeze power remains a focus
Recent market attention has also centered on the role of stablecoin issuers during security incidents. Yahoo Finance, citing the reported Binance incident, said Tether froze nearly $1.57 billion in assets linked to the event. That response highlights a practical feature of centralized stablecoins: the issuer can restrict certain assets on supported blockchains. It also keeps compliance, governance and counterparty dependence in focus for users holding USDT.
Tether's figures are based on an attestation prepared by BDO rather than a full financial-statement audit, so the September 30 snapshot should not be treated as a real-time balance sheet. For investors and payment users, the main distinction is between the token's near-dollar trading behavior and the issuer's underlying reserve and operational risks.
