The XRP Ledger has activated a protocol amendment that closes a disclosed token-permission loophole. The fix, called fixCleanup3_4_0, went live on November 4 at 14:52 UTC at ledger 108,112,129, according to CoinDesk.
What the Amendment Changes
The issue concerned the XRP Ledger permission-delegation system. Under the previous rules, an account authorized to destroy an issuer's tokens through the PaymentBurn permission could, under certain conditions, also create new fungible tokens. The correction restores the separation between burning and minting permissions.
The affected assets include tokens issued on the XRP Ledger, such as stablecoins, rather than XRP itself. CoinDesk reported that there have been no publicly confirmed cases of the loophole being exploited. The same software release also contains accounting corrections for planned lending and Single Asset Vault features, as well as fixes involving trading pools, permissioned trading and transaction signing.
Validator Approval Was Delayed
Activation followed a delay in the amendment-voting process. Changes to XRP Ledger transaction rules require support from more than 80 percent of trusted validators for 14 consecutive days. An earlier approval period was interrupted in October when support fell below the required threshold, restarting the countdown before the amendment later secured the necessary backing.
Price Context for XRP
On the accessed XRP/USD page, Investing.com displayed XRP at 1.2402 US dollars. The page also showed a 24-hour range of 1.2396 to 1.3264 US dollars, but did not provide a calendar date for the displayed timestamp. For a dated comparison, Kinzan listed a November 5 UTC daily close of 1.3047 US dollars. The displayed 1.2402 US dollar level is 4.94 percent below that reference.
That move remains below the 5 percent threshold for making price action the sole headline under this format. The more material development for XRP-related investors is therefore the completed security amendment: it addresses issued-token controls without changing the native XRP supply. The XRP price remains exposed to broader crypto-market volatility, so the protocol fix should not be treated as a direct trading signal.
