- Second-quarter sales mix and ready-mix volumes improved despite pressure from energy costs and seasonal conditions.
- New grinding and blending capacity strengthens ACC's manufacturing footprint in India.
- The proposed Ambuja Cements merger now moves toward NCLT approval, subject to remaining regulatory steps.
ACC Limited's second-quarter results for the period ended September 30, 2026, pointed to a stronger product mix and continued capacity expansion, while profitability remained under pressure from elevated energy costs. The company's Q2 FY27 business update said cement sales reached 9.7 million tonnes and revenue from operations was INR 5,689 crore.
Mix improves as margins remain pressured
Trade sales increased by seven percentage points year on year to 78 percent, while premium products represented 47 percent of trade sales. Blended cement accounted for 85 percent, compared with 78 percent in the year-earlier quarter. Ready-mix concrete volumes rose 19 percent year on year to 1.07 million cubic metres.
Operating EBITDA was INR 401 crore, equal to a 7.0 percent margin, while profit after tax was INR 93 crore. The company said the quarter reflected monsoon disruption, seasonal shutdowns, geopolitical uncertainty, elevated energy costs and constraints in domestic coal availability. These factors leave the recovery in profitability dependent on pricing, product mix and operating efficiency.
Capacity and merger shape outlook
ACC commissioned a 2.4 million-tonne-per-year greenfield grinding unit at Salai Banwa in Uttar Pradesh and added 1.0 million tonnes of cement capacity at Kalamboli in Maharashtra. The two projects added 3.4 million tonnes of capacity during the quarter and are intended to improve coverage of key markets.
Shareholders approved the proposed amalgamation with Ambuja Cements at a meeting on September 29, 2026. The scheme now proceeds to the National Company Law Tribunal for final sanction, with completion expected during FY27 subject to regulatory and statutory approvals. The transaction could simplify the corporate structure and improve coordination across manufacturing, logistics and distribution, but execution remains the next key milestone.
