- Pricing actions lifted sales, but higher raw-material costs and lower production output reduced adjusted profitability.
- Management expects lower 2026 capital spending and continues to target cash-flow improvement in the second half.
- Project CENTURY was selected for a USD 47 million grant supporting the ammonia platform.
AdvanSix reported a wider third-quarter loss on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as higher prices lifted sales but raw-material inflation and lower production output weighed on profitability. The company announced the results in a release on its AdvanSix investor website.
Sales grew as margins narrowed
Sales for the quarter ended September 30 increased 15 percent from a year earlier to USD 430.807 million. Favorable pricing contributed 17 percent, partly offset by a 2 percent volume decline, with lower caprolactam sales weighing on volume.
Net loss widened to USD 7.555 million from USD 2.638 million in the prior-year quarter. Diluted earnings per share were a loss of USD 0.28, compared with a loss of USD 0.10 a year earlier. Adjusted diluted earnings per share fell to a loss of USD 0.24 from earnings of USD 0.08.
Adjusted EBITDA declined to USD 14.643 million from USD 24.734 million, while the adjusted EBITDA margin contracted to 3.4 percent from 6.6 percent. AdvanSix attributed the pressure mainly to reduced production output and higher raw-material costs, partly offset by stronger pricing and cost savings.
Cash flow and outlook remain central
Cash flow from operations rose to USD 47.962 million from USD 26.588 million, supported primarily by working-capital performance. Capital expenditure fell to USD 18.275 million, producing free cash flow of USD 29.687 million under the company's non-GAAP definition.
AdvanSix now expects 2026 capital expenditure of approximately USD 90 million, compared with USD 116 million in 2025. Management continues to expect a USD 17 million pretax income impact from plant turnarounds and anticipates sequential cash-flow improvement in the second half of 2026.
Project CENTURY was selected for a USD 47 million FIELDS grant to support investment in the ammonia platform. The board also declared a quarterly cash dividend of USD 0.16 per share, payable December 1 to shareholders of record at the close of business on November 17.
