- Al Baraka Capital has taken over management of the Manasek Shariah-compliant fixed-income fund after meeting Financial Regulatory Authority requirements.
- The investment arm is developing new money-market, fixed-income, equity and precious-metals products while expanding access through fintech providers.
Al Baraka Capital, the investment arm of Al Baraka Bank Egypt, took over management of the Manasek Fund on Thursday, October 29, 2026, according to FinTech Gate. The fund is Al Baraka Capital's first investment fund and is described as the only Shariah-compliant fixed-income fund in the Egyptian market.
Investment arm broadens mandate
The asset-management division assumed the investment-manager role after meeting requirements set by Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority. Al Baraka Capital said it had strengthened its digital infrastructure, recruited capital-markets specialists and adopted a broader operating model for the division.
Chief Executive Amir Sherif said the company plans to expand its assets under management by attracting portfolios and launching additional funds. Planned products span money-market, fixed-income, equity and precious-metals strategies, as well as sector funds.
Fintech access supports distribution
Al Baraka Capital has signed agreements with fintech providers to make the fund easier to access. The company is seeking to benefit from rising investment awareness and the wider use of financial applications in Egypt.
FinTech Gate reported that the number of investment funds in Egypt rose from 172 at the end of 2025 to 232 by the end of the third quarter of 2026. The Manasek Fund launched in the first quarter of 2026 and offers certificate holders the opportunity to win Hajj and Umrah trips.
Retail banking position strengthens
A FirstBank analysis said Al Baraka Bank Egypt ranked 20th in Egypt's credit-card market by the end of June 2026, up from 26th at the end of 2022. Its credit-card portfolio exceeded those of Kuwait Finance House Egypt and Suez Canal Bank at the end of June, highlighting stronger positioning in this retail-finance segment.
Banking model and competition
Al Baraka Bank Egypt provides Islamic banking products and services in Egypt, including savings accounts, certificates, time deposits, financing and payment cards. Its offering covers retail customers and financing products for personal needs, housing and travel. In credit cards, the bank has moved ahead of Kuwait Finance House Egypt and Suez Canal Bank, according to FirstBank's comparison. This gives Al Baraka a stronger position in that niche while its investment arm broadens its capital-markets activities.
