Cheil Worldwide stock gains 1.77 percent as NH cuts target
Published on 10/07/2026 at 06:09 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSCheil Worldwide (ISIN KR7030000004) was trading at KRW 18,980 on the KRX on October 7, 2026 at 12:48 p.m. KST, up 1.77 percent from the prior close. The latest analyst action came from NH Investment & Securities on October 6, which kept a Buy rating but cut its price target from KRW 24,000 to KRW 23,000.
Buy rating meets weaker forecasts
According to EDAILY, NH lowered its full-year earnings estimates by 16 percent as affiliated advertisers continued to control marketing budgets. The report also put third-quarter gross profit at KRW 460.4 billion, up 1 percent year over year, while operating profit was projected at KRW 81.9 billion, down 15 percent.
The target cut leaves the new KRW 23,000 level 21.2 percent above Cheil Worldwide's KRW 18,980 price. The comparison matters because the recommendation stayed at Buy even as the earnings outlook weakened, making shareholder returns the main support in NH's assessment.
Share cancellation sets October date
Cheil Worldwide's board approved the cancellation of 13,762,500 treasury shares, valued at KRW 280 billion and equal to 12 percent of issued shares. The Korea Herald reported that the cancellation is scheduled for October 15, 2026.
The company also plans to buy back and cancel an additional KRW 140 billion of shares within one year. The first KRW 40 billion tranche is scheduled for open-market purchases through December 30, 2026, giving the capital-return plan a second milestone beyond the October cancellation.
Q2 revenue declined 4.0 percent
Cheil Worldwide reported Q2 2026 revenue of KRW 1.07 trillion, down 4.0 percent from Q2 2025, while operating profit reached KRW 92.7 billion and net income was KRW 63.5 billion, according to ATSView. The operating margin was 8.6 percent, above the 8.2 percent reported for Q2 2025.
For investors, the numbers frame the trade-off clearly: revenue contracted, but operating profit was nearly unchanged against the prior-year quarter, while the planned share cancellation can lift per-share metrics if earnings stabilize. The market capitalization stood at KRW 1.9 trillion on October 7, 2026, with volume of 211,206 shares.
Stock remains below yearly high
Cheil Worldwide was trading 18.5 percent below its 52-week high of KRW 23,300 and 11.0 percent above its 52-week low of KRW 17,100 on the KRX on October 7, 2026. Its price was KRW 18,980, with the session range at KRW 18,570 to KRW 18,990.
