Cipla stock remains in focus after a weak September quarter. Stronger Indian sales only partly offset pressure in North America and APIs.

Pressure Builds Beyond India

  • Cipla's September-quarter earnings were weakened by lower North American sales and a sharp margin contraction.
  • India remained the company's strongest growth engine, while Africa and the API business declined.

Cipla reported a sharp deterioration in profitability for the quarter ended September 2026, with weaker North American sales and lower operating margins weighing on the result. IANS reported the figures on October 27.

North America Drives Earnings Weakness

Consolidated net profit fell 35 percent year over year to INR 878 crore in the September quarter, compared with INR 1,351.17 crore a year earlier. Revenue from operations declined 2.4 percent to INR 7,403.93 crore.

EBITDA dropped 26.8 percent to INR 1,388 crore, while the EBITDA margin contracted by 630 basis points to 18.7 percent from 25 percent. North American revenue declined 19 percent to INR 1,643 crore, reflecting the main drag on the quarter.

India Provides the Main Offset

India revenue increased 12 percent year over year to INR 3,516 crore, and Cipla said its One-India business achieved its highest quarterly sales. The improvement was not enough to offset weakness elsewhere: One Africa revenue slipped 1 percent to INR 1,171 crore, while API and other business revenue fell 59 percent to INR 107 crore.

The results leave Cipla's near-term outlook tied to a recovery in North America and the company's ability to defend margins while sustaining domestic growth. Investors will also watch whether new products and regulatory progress can improve the overseas contribution.
