Gol Linhas Aereas stock gains access to 16 Chilean destinations through a new codeshare with Sky Airline. The tie-up broadens regional connectivity.

GOL expands its regional network

  • GOL and Sky Airline began selling connecting itineraries between Brazil, Chile and Peru in late October.
  • The partnership gives GOL customers access to Sky destinations beyond Santiago and Lima while Sky passengers can connect to GOL's Brazilian network.
  • Route adjustments linked to higher jet-fuel costs remain a separate pressure on GOL's international network.

Gol Linhas Aereas expanded its regional network late last month through a codeshare agreement with Sky Airline. The arrangement links Sky's services in Brazil and Chile with GOL's domestic network and gives passengers more connecting options across South America, according to Ground News.

More connections across South America

The codeshare took effect from October 26, 2026, at the start of the Northern winter schedule. GOL customers can book Sky services through Santiago and Lima to destinations including Cusco, Arequipa, Puerto Montt, Puerto Natales, Antofagasta and Calama. Sky passengers can connect onward to GOL destinations such as Curitiba, Recife, Natal and Maceio.

The agreement also allows both airlines to sell combined itineraries through their own channels. Sky operates from Brazilian gateways including Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Florianopolis, Porto Alegre, Salvador, Brasilia and Belo Horizonte. The partnership follows Sky's integration into Abra Group, which also controls GOL and Avianca.

Network choices face higher costs

The new commercial link comes as GOL reshapes parts of its international network. TheStreet reported on October 16 that the airline suspended several U.S. and South American routes until the start of 2027, citing jet-fuel prices that had doubled and reached nearly 40 percent of operating costs. GOL described its network as a dynamic process that is adjusted to operational needs.

For investors, the codeshare offers a way to deepen regional reach without relying solely on additional nonstop routes. Its financial contribution will depend on booking volumes, transfer demand and the airline's ability to balance connectivity with fuel and fleet costs.

GOL's airline business

GOL is a Brazilian low-cost airline serving passengers across domestic Brazil and selected international markets in South America, North America and the Caribbean. Its network is built around Boeing 737 operations, while the company also serves longer international markets. TheStreet describes GOL as the second-largest South American airline by passenger volume behind LATAM and Avianca, placing it among the region's major carriers.

Brazilian aviation remains competitive, with LATAM and Avianca operating alongside GOL on major regional corridors. Sky Airline is a strategic partner in this announcement rather than a direct competitor, and the codeshare gives both carriers a broader combined network.
