Hagar reported stronger operating performance for the second quarter of its 2026/27 financial year, while quarterly profit declined from the prior-year period. The company announced the results on 15 October 2026 in a Hagar press release published by GlobeNewswire. The statements cover the period from 1 March to 31 August 2026.
Sales growth across the group
Hagar generated sales of ISK 54.683 billion in the quarter, up 5.5% from the comparable period. EBITDA rose to ISK 5.666 billion, equal to 10.4% of sales. For the first six months, sales increased 5.5% to ISK 105.468 billion and EBITDA climbed 13.3% to ISK 10.802 billion.
The result was supported by the Stores and Warehouses - Iceland business, where quarterly EBITDA increased 17.1% year on year. Grocery-store visits rose 3.2%, while units sold increased 1.3%. In the Faroe Islands, revenue at SMS increased 8.7% and EBITDA grew 13%.
Profit and guidance in focus
Quarterly profit was ISK 2.290 billion, compared with ISK 2.556 billion a year earlier. Hagar said the positive contribution from Olís' first-quarter sales to industries and higher global oil prices partly reversed in the second quarter. Fuel volumes sold fell 11.1%, although retail fuel volumes increased.
Management raised its EBITDA guidance for the 2026/27 financial year by ISK 800 million to a range of ISK 19.600 billion to ISK 20.100 billion. The company also reported that two share-buyback programs launched during the quarter resulted in total repurchases of ISK 1.000 billion.
Investor perspective
For investors, the update combines resilient grocery operations with exposure to fuel markets, input costs and inflation. The higher full-year guidance reflects management's confidence after a stronger first half, while the lower quarterly profit underlines the sensitivity of earnings to business mix and energy-market conditions.
