- Korea Investment & Securities expects third-quarter operating profit to rise year over year.
- Data centers, robotaxis and aftermarket services are identified as additional expansion areas.
- Foreign-currency translation losses could weigh on attributable net income.
On October 7, 2026, Korea Investment & Securities kept its KRW 5,000 price target and Buy rating for Hanon Systems. The assessment, reported by Financial News, highlights improving profitability despite weak conditions in the finished-vehicle market.
Restructuring supports profitability
The brokerage forecast third-quarter operating profit of KRW 112 billion, an increase of 17.6 percent from a year earlier and 8.0 percent from the previous quarter. The projected operating margin was 3.9 percent, below market consensus but materially above the brokerage's earlier estimate.
Financial News attributed the improved forecast to restructuring-related cost savings and stronger customer recoveries for higher costs. Hanon Systems' operating margin had risen from 3.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025 to 3.5 percent in the first quarter and 3.6 percent in the second quarter of 2026, according to the report.
Expansion beyond vehicle systems
Korea Investment & Securities identified HVAC aftermarket services, data centers and robotaxis as potential growth drivers. Hanon Systems has started supplying T Station stores in South Korea and is pursuing distribution partnerships in the United States.
The company is also targeting liquid-cooling systems for data-center power-conversion equipment. The initiative remains at the prototype stage, with an update expected during the fourth quarter. In robotaxis, Hanon Systems has begun supplying HVAC and thermal-management systems to Zoox, Amazon's autonomous-driving subsidiary.
The analysis also flags a risk to attributable net income from foreign-currency translation losses if the Korean won strengthens. For investors, the outlook therefore combines an improving operating trend with execution risks in new markets and currency sensitivity.
