- Pan American Silver completed its acquisition of MAG Silver on September 4, 2025.
- MAG Silver's 44% Juanicipio interest is now held through Pan American Silver, while Fresnillo remains the mine's 56% owner and operator.
- Investors seeking Juanicipio exposure now have to assess Pan American Silver rather than a standalone MAG Silver security.
MAG Silver stock no longer trades after Pan American Silver completed its court-approved acquisition of MAG Silver on September 4, 2025. The development was reported by Discovery Alert in an analysis published October 14, 2026.
Trading in MAG shares ceased on NYSE American on September 4, 2025, and the shares left the Toronto Stock Exchange on September 5, 2025. MAG became a wholly owned subsidiary of Pan American Silver, so the former standalone listing is no longer an investable security.
Juanicipio exposure changed ownership
The transaction transferred MAG's 44% interest in the Juanicipio silver mine in Mexico into Pan American Silver. Fresnillo remains the 56% owner and operator, meaning operating decisions and mine sequencing continue to sit with the majority partner.
Discovery Alert reported that the consideration consisted of approximately 500 million US dollars in cash and about 60.2 million Pan American shares. Former MAG shareholders received exposure to Pan American rather than retaining a separate silver-mining equity.
For investors, the change is more than a ticker update. Juanicipio exposure is now part of a broader precious-metals company with other assets, corporate capital allocation and its own balance-sheet risks. That can reduce the concentration of a standalone holding, but it also means Juanicipio's operating performance has less direct influence on the overall investment.
