- Meritz Securities is launching 14 online-only equity-linked securities tied to stock indexes and individual shares.
- Subscriptions close at noon on November 6, while corporate accounts gain access to the online offering.
- Investors face principal-loss risk if maturity and barrier conditions are not met.
Meritz Securities announced on Thursday, October 29, that it will launch 14 online-only equity-linked securities through its mobile trading system. The Seoul Economic Daily reported that subscriptions will close at noon on November 6.
The new range includes six stock-linked products and seven index-linked products alongside a flagship issue based on the KOSPI 200, Japan's Nikkei 225 and the S&P 500. The minimum investment is 100,000 Korean won, and corporate accounts are now eligible after online subscriptions had previously been limited to individuals.
Structured Products Add New Risks
Meritz Super ELS No. 700 has a three-year maturity and offers early redemption reviews every four months. Its stated annual return can reach 11.61 percent if the agreed conditions are met.
The product is not principal-protected. If one underlying asset falls below 35 percent of its initial reference price and the maturity conditions are not satisfied, investors may lose part or all of their principal. Monthly-payout and lizard structures add different payment and early-redemption features, making the individual terms material for investors.
