NCSoft stock broadens global game pipeline as AION 2 scales

NCSoft is widening its global game portfolio as AION 2 builds momentum outside South Korea. In a report published on November 1, JKN said the title had exceeded 6.3 million cumulative global character creations and 108.2 million hours of playtime as of October 20.

The figures cover AION 2's official global launch on October 5, following early access from September 30. The MMORPG is based on the AION intellectual property, uses Unreal Engine 5 and supports cross-platform play between PC and mobile devices.

AION 2 Leads International Expansion

JKN reported that AION 2 offers eight classes, large-scale player-versus-environment content and extensive character customization. The title is positioned as a key vehicle for NCSoft's international expansion, although the reported player figures do not by themselves establish future revenue or retention.

NCSoft is also testing new intellectual property. A closed beta for the fantasy magic role-playing game Astrae Oratio generated nearly 80,000 hours of cumulative playtime, while 93 percent of survey respondents said they intended to play after its official release, according to JKN.

More Titles Move Toward Testing

The company is expanding into additional genres. TIME TAKERS, a time-based survival shooter, is scheduled for a global Steam playtest in November. LLL, an open-world cinematic third-person shooter, has completed a pre-alpha test for users in the United States.

NCSoft's official company website lists AION 2, Lineage Classic, THRONE AND LIBERTY and other live titles alongside projects including Astrae Oratio, CINDER CITY, LIMIT ZERO BREAKERS and TIME TAKERS. The pipeline points to an effort to reduce dependence on a narrower MMORPG lineup, but execution and sustained user demand remain key factors for investors.
