Nuclearelectrica stock: Cernavoda units remain safely shut down

- Units 1 and 2 remain safely shut down under nuclear safety procedures.
- Water levels have improved, but forecasts do not yet support reconnection.
- Nuclearelectrica says it will seek priority reconnection once the required conditions persist.
Nuclearelectrica said on Thursday, October 29, that Units 1 and 2 at the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant remain safely shut down as low Danube water levels continue to constrain operations. The company said the shutdown poses no nuclear safety risk.
The update was published by Nuclearelectrica. The company said the water level in the plant's pump intake basin has risen by approximately 10 centimeters as the Danube level improved.
Restart depends on sustained improvement
Nuclearelectrica said the local increase has not yet been matched by a general rise across the upstream Danube basin. Forecasts therefore do not indicate that all criteria for reconnecting one or both units have been met.
The intake-basin level must reach the threshold required for safe reconnection, remain there for several days and show a sustained upward trend. Nuclearelectrica said it is monitoring hydrological data and coordinating with the relevant authorities.
Operational outlook remains cautious
The company said it is prepared to reconnect the Cernavoda plant as soon as conditions allow. Any change in the status of the units will be communicated in line with the legal requirements for a listed company.
For investors, the immediate focus remains the timing of a safe return to electricity production. The latest statement does not provide a restart date and keeps the operational outlook dependent on water levels and forecasts.
