- Ndindi Nyoro is seeking a larger holding to influence Olympia Capital's strategic direction.
- Olympia's six-month profit declined as costs grew faster than revenue.
- The proposed investment-company model remains an ambition rather than an approved restructuring.
Olympia Capital Holdings is facing a potential strategic shift after Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro acquired a 9.76 percent stake through Limpopo Capital Limited, according to Business Daily on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The 3,982,253-share position made Nyoro Olympia's third-largest shareholder, while his stated goal is to build a holding large enough to pursue a broader restructuring.
Nyoro targets a larger holding
Nyoro wants to raise his stake to 25 percent, a threshold that would allow him to declare an intention to take over the Nairobi Securities Exchange-listed company under the applicable rules. He has described a plan to turn Olympia into a Berkshire Hathaway-style investment vehicle that could acquire businesses outright or hold stakes in listed companies.
The plan remains conditional. Nyoro said Olympia's low share liquidity has made it difficult to accumulate shares and that he could sell his existing position at a profit if he cannot build the ownership level required to execute the strategy.
Profit pressure remains visible
Olympia reported net profit of KES 17.3 million for the six months ended August, down 18.1 percent from the comparable period. Revenue rose 4.5 percent to KES 278.7 million, but sales costs increased 18.3 percent, putting pressure on earnings.
The company also reported that annual profit had fallen to KES 10.45 million from KES 17.6 million in the previous year. Olympia has not paid a dividend for five years, increasing the importance of any future change in capital allocation and operating performance for investors.
Olympia's operating businesses
Olympia Capital is a Kenya-based holding company with operations in Kenya, Botswana and South Africa. Its businesses include Dunlex Adhesives, construction-related products, tiles, cleaning chemicals, water pumps, fire-prevention equipment, real estate and logistics. The group therefore combines manufacturing and property interests rather than operating as a pure financial investment company.
