Realtek Semiconductor reported strong third-quarter growth on October 29, as resilient networking demand and higher-value products offset weakness in personal computers. Revenue rose 27.9 percent year over year to NT$37.7 billion, according to the Investing.com earnings-call transcript.
Networking offsets PC weakness
Third-quarter revenue increased 0.5 percent from the previous quarter, while earnings per share reached NT$8.05, up from NT$6.69 a year earlier. Gross margin was 47.4 percent, improving sequentially but declining from the prior year as foundry and outsourced assembly costs remained elevated.
Realtek said networking demand stayed resilient as customers upgraded to faster connections. Multi-gigabit Ethernet products accounted for more than 40 percent of Ethernet revenue, with growth extending across routers, broadband access, small and medium-sized business networks and servers.
Management sees steady demand
Management said fourth-quarter revenue may avoid the usual seasonal slowdown because of stable order momentum, higher average selling prices and a more favorable product mix. The company still expects weakness in the PC market, where elevated memory and processor costs are weighing on shipments.
For 2027, Realtek expects steady top-line growth from specification upgrades, Wi-Fi 7, multi-gigabit Ethernet, 10G PON, automotive Ethernet and new product launches. Wi-Fi 8 products are expected to begin ramping in the second half of 2027, while 100-gigabit optical PHY products are moving toward a more meaningful production ramp.
AI remains a longer-term driver
Realtek is expanding beyond traditional PC and consumer electronics applications into AI servers, high-speed interconnects, automotive systems, robotics and other edge devices. Management said high-performance-computing and edge-AI businesses currently represent a high-single-digit share of revenue and could exceed 30 percent by 2030.
For investors, the results point to a business mix increasingly shaped by networking upgrades and content growth rather than a broad recovery in PC shipments. Supply constraints, rising component costs and inventory turnover of 136 days remain important factors for margins and execution.
Realtek Semiconductor designs and distributes integrated circuits and related software for networking, wireless connectivity, Bluetooth, Internet of Things devices, computer peripherals and multimedia applications. Its product portfolio also includes Ethernet, Wi-Fi, audio, USB, display and automotive connectivity solutions, with operations centered in Taiwan and international markets.
