- Rocket Companies reported a GAAP profit after a year-earlier loss, while adjusted earnings and EBITDA also increased year over year.
- Management expects fourth-quarter adjusted revenue of USD 2.1 billion to USD 2.3 billion as refinancing activity remains under pressure.
- The company ended September with USD 11.4 billion of liquidity and said it gained share in purchase and refinance lending.
Rocket Companies reported a sharp earnings rebound for the third quarter on October 29, with GAAP net income reaching USD 709 million after a loss of USD 124 million a year earlier. The results were published in the company's third-quarter results release for the period ended September 30, 2026.
Revenue and profit accelerate
Total revenue rose to USD 3.28 billion from USD 1.70 billion in the third quarter of 2025. Adjusted revenue, which excludes changes in the fair value of mortgage servicing rights and related liabilities caused by valuation assumptions, reached USD 2.57 billion, compared with USD 1.87 billion a year earlier.
Adjusted net income increased to USD 419 million from USD 158 million, while adjusted EBITDA climbed to USD 748 million from USD 349 million. Adjusted diluted earnings per share were USD 0.15, up from USD 0.07. Rocket said its adjusted profitability margin reached its highest level in nearly five years.
Mortgage outlook remains demanding
Rocket reported USD 43.6 billion of total closed mortgage loan volume and USD 40.4 billion of net rate-lock volume during the quarter. The company said it gained share in both purchase and refinance lending even as mortgage rates reached a three-year high.
For the fourth quarter, management expects adjusted revenue between USD 2.1 billion and USD 2.3 billion. The outlook reflects an expected near-halving of refinance activity from the third quarter and continued weakness in overall mortgage activity.
Rocket ended September with USD 11.4 billion of liquidity, including USD 2.7 billion of cash and cash equivalents. Its servicing portfolio represented USD 2.0 trillion of unpaid principal balance across 9.1 million loans, supporting the company's effort to recapture future mortgage business.
