Shochiku reported weaker interim profitability for the six months ended August 31, 2026. The company disclosed the results on October 14, with sales down 1.4 percent year over year and net income falling sharply.
Profit declines outpace sales
According to Japan IR, Shochiku generated sales of 48.921 billion yen during the interim period. Operating income decreased to 3.450 billion yen, while net income attributable to owners of the parent fell to 736 million yen.
The earnings mix included film-related operations, theater, real estate and other activities. Film-related revenue was reported at 25.652 billion yen, while real estate revenue reached 7.298 billion yen.
Full-year outlook remains unchanged
Shochiku did not revise its full-year forecast with the interim release. For investors, the sharper decline in profit than in sales keeps attention on margins and the contribution of its entertainment businesses during the second half of the fiscal year.
