- The company's GBP410 pneumococcal vaccine remains in a global Phase 3 trial, with interim results targeted for 2027.
- SK bioscience is combining vaccine sales with global contract development and manufacturing activities to improve profitability.
SK bioscience reported stronger third-quarter sales and a narrower operating loss on Thursday, November 5, 2026. According to Financial News, consolidated revenue increased year over year while the company moved to a pretax profit.
Revenue growth improves quarterly earnings
Revenue reached 182.4 billion Korean won in the July-to-September period, up from 150.8 billion won a year earlier. The operating loss narrowed to 11.2 billion won from 19.4 billion won, marking the smallest quarterly loss since the fourth quarter of 2023. SK bioscience also reported a pretax profit of 6.1 billion won.
IDT Biologika, the German contract development and manufacturing organization acquired in 2024, was central to the improvement. Its quarterly revenue rose to 113.1 billion won, while operating profit increased to 9.6 billion won. Higher production volumes, a larger contribution from high-margin business and improved operating efficiency supported the result.
Vaccine portfolio remains a growth driver
SK bioscience said its own SKYVaricella vaccine benefited from expanded supplies to the Pan American Health Organization, including Colombia. Distribution of Sanofi products also contributed, with sales of Beyfortus, an RSV antibody, and Hexaxim increasing during the quarter.
The medium-term pipeline remains focused on vaccines and partnerships. GBP410, a 21-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine co-developed with Sanofi, is in a global Phase 3 trial, with interim results targeted for 2027. The company has also filed for a global pediatric Phase 1b trial of RSM01, an RSV-prevention antibody candidate licensed from the Gates Medical Research Institute.
Business model and industry position
SK bioscience is a South Korean vaccine and biopharmaceutical company with proprietary vaccine products, licensed vaccine distribution and global manufacturing activities through IDT Biologika. Its operations span vaccine development, commercial supply and contract development and manufacturing. The company is expanding its position through partnerships with Sanofi, the Gates Medical Research Institute and other global health organizations. Its combination of vaccine assets and CDMO capacity gives it a more specialized profile than a pure vaccine developer.
