SK Chemicals stock builds a new recycling network for waste banners

The company also launched a regional waste-banner recycling consortium on October 6, creating a fresh operating angle for its chemical-recycling business.
Waste banners become new feedstock
As Yahoo Finance reported on October 6, 2026, SK Chemicals formed the Waste Banner Resource Circulation Consortium with four regional partners. The group will collect banners, process them for chemical recycling, convert them into feedstock and manufacture new banner fabric for local communities.
The initiative uses SK Chemicals' depolymerization technology, which breaks plastic waste down to feedstock before repolymerization. Yahoo Finance reported that the participating regions generate more than 1,000 tons of waste banners each year, giving the project a defined supply stream rather than a purely pilot-scale concept.
Quarterly recovery reaches 24.8 percent
According to ATS View, SK Chemicals reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of KRW 745 billion, up 24.8 percent from the same quarter of 2025. Operating profit reached KRW 32.3 billion, compared with a KRW 1.0 billion operating loss in the year-earlier quarter, producing a 4.3 percent operating margin.
The earnings mix matters for the recycling story. The company said its Green Chemicals business benefited from higher copolyester sales, while the second-quarter figures also included only part of the contribution from SK Multi-Utilities' power sales, according to Metro Seoul on September 6, 2026.
Metro Seoul cited a forecast for third-quarter 2026 operating profit of KRW 38.8 billion, a 149.17 percent increase from the year-earlier period. That forecast places the next test on whether stronger power sales and copolyester pricing can extend the second-quarter improvement.
Stock stays below yearly high
The share price was last at KRW 52,200 at 3:30 p.m. KST on October 6, 2026, with volume of 28,127 shares. The same session's range was KRW 51,100 to KRW 52,200, while the 52-week range stood at KRW 35,850 to KRW 81,800.
SK Chemicals had a market capitalization of KRW 901.4 billion on October 6, 2026. For investors, the operating recovery and the recycling consortium now provide two measurable company markers: a return to quarterly operating profit and an effort to build regional feedstock supply.
