- Third-quarter revenue rose strongly on passenger demand and cargo growth.
- Higher fuel costs and inflation reduced operating profitability and narrowed the EBITDAR margin.
- Turkish Airlines lowered its 2026 passenger capacity growth target as Middle East tensions reshape network planning.
Turkish Airlines reported strong third-quarter revenue growth on November 3, 2026, but rising fuel and inflation costs weighed on operating profitability. In its official results release, the airline said third-quarter revenue increased 19.3 percent year on year to 8.3 billion US dollars, while operating profit reached 929 million US dollars.
Demand offsets part of cost pressure
Passenger demand remained resilient during the July to September period. Turkish Airlines carried 28.5 million passengers, 4.7 percent more than a year earlier, while its passenger load factor rose 1.5 percentage points to 87.1 percent.
Cargo provided an additional growth engine. Turkish Cargo increased cargo volume by 7.4 percent, and cargo revenue rose 45.6 percent to more than 1.2 billion US dollars. The mix helped offset part of the cost pressure, but not enough to prevent weaker operating profitability.
Fuel costs reshape capacity plans
The carrier said jet fuel costs had increased 118 percent since the beginning of the year. EBITDAR reached 3.7 billion US dollars in the first nine months, while the EBITDAR margin declined 6.2 percentage points year on year to 17.6 percent.
Turkish Airlines also lowered its 2026 passenger capacity growth target from 10 percent. Capacity increased 3.2 percent in the third quarter as the airline redirected resources toward markets with stronger demand and managed disruptions linked to the conflict in the Middle East.

Network carrier with cargo reach
Turkish Airlines operates a passenger network spanning Türkiye, Europe and Asia, complemented by its Turkish Cargo business. Its Istanbul-centered network and flexible capacity management support traffic flows across multiple regions and demand pools. The company describes itself as Europe's leading network carrier by number of flights, while its cargo operation adds exposure to international freight markets.
