UEM Edgenta launched its inaugural Young Entrepreneurship Programme on October 21, 2026, to train and mentor young entrepreneurs in its vendor ecosystem, according to The Star.

The first group consists of six vendors linked to the company's infrastructure solutions and asset management businesses. UEM Edgenta said the program is intended to improve operational capabilities, business management and compliance standards across its supplier network.

Training combines external and internal expertise

Institut Keusahawanan Negara, or INSKEN, will provide training in business model development, leadership and strategic planning. The Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia will cover tender, contract and financial management as well as management systems, while Edgenta Academy will add internal business development modules.

The vendors were selected through a multi-stage process that included business assessments, desktop audits and site visits benchmarked against the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework. UEM Edgenta said the small first cohort is designed to allow intensive mentoring and tailored training.

Small pilot leaves expansion decision ahead

Management plans to evaluate the program's results before deciding on further investment or a wider rollout. For investors, the initiative is primarily a supplier-capability measure; the company has not tied the announcement to a financial target.

UEM Edgenta operates in infrastructure solutions and asset management, with the program focused on strengthening the businesses that support those activities. Its near-term significance lies in supplier readiness, compliance and the potential resilience of the vendor network.
