Vietnam International Bank said on October 7, 2026, that it had completed a three-year syndicated loan of USD 285 million from nine financial institutions in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The announcement forms part of VIB's plan to raise medium- and long-term funding from international markets during 2026.

The transaction was arranged by United Overseas Bank, Maybank Securities and Cathay United Bank. China Construction Bank joined the three institutions as a mandated lead arranger and bookrunner, while five other financial institutions participated in the facility. The loan was disbursed in three tranches during 2026.

Funding mix gains flexibility

According to VIB, the three-year facility carries a cost of funds about 30 basis points below its previous syndicated loan. The bank said the transaction should diversify funding beyond customer deposits and domestic channels while giving it more flexibility to match funding maturities with lending needs.

VIB said outstanding foreign funding stood at USD 1.6 billion and was expected to reach USD 2 billion in 2027. The new facility is intended to support credit demand from retail customers, small and medium-sized enterprises and other corporate clients under the bank's risk-management framework.

Capital supports lending plans

The bank also said its charter capital had reached VND 37,354 billion after the issue of more than 323 million shares in a 9.5 percent stock dividend. At the end of the second quarter, outstanding loans were nearly VND 400 trillion and first-half pretax profit exceeded VND 5,180 billion, according to the announcement.
