Vietjet Aviation shares face profit pressure despite revenue growth

- Vietjet expanded sales strongly in the first half of 2026, but higher costs weighed on quarterly earnings.
- Share issuances linked to dividends have affected the stock's adjusted price history.
Vietjet Aviation shares closed at 131,600 Vietnamese dong on Friday, October 30, according to Dan Tri. The report placed the stock among Vietnamese aviation counters facing pressure despite continued revenue and passenger growth across the sector.
Revenue rises as earnings weaken
Vietjet's consolidated revenue reached VND 30,499 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up 71 percent from the same period a year earlier. After-tax profit fell 46.5 percent to VND 349 billion, showing the effect of rising operating costs on the bottom line.
For the first six months, net revenue increased 43.8 percent to VND 51,535 billion, while after-tax profit rose 6.1 percent to VND 1,372 billion. The contrasting quarterly and half-year figures leave fuel and other operating expenses as key factors for investors watching margins.
Share issuance affects comparisons
Dan Tri reported that Vietjet shares had traded within a broad 115,000 to 146,000 Vietnamese dong range over the previous nine months after reaching 160,000 Vietnamese dong earlier in 2026. The report also noted that dividend-related share issues increased the number of outstanding shares, which adjusted the market price and complicates direct comparisons with earlier periods.
The airline announced a 20 percent share dividend in October 2025 and later set a 100-for-30 share dividend for 2025, with the ex-dividend date on June 16. These corporate actions matter when investors assess the stock's longer-term performance.
Airline network supports expansion
Vietjet operates domestic and international passenger services, with additional offerings including baggage, meals, seat selection, insurance, express shipping and financial services, according to its official website. The airline is headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam, and serves routes across Vietnam and destinations in Asia, Europe and Australia.
With more than 120 domestic and international routes, Vietjet operates alongside established Vietnamese carriers such as Vietnam Airlines. Its large route network and value-focused air travel model give it a distinct position in Vietnam's airline market, while profitability remains sensitive to operating costs.
