- The board approved additional investment for facility upgrades and equipment in Kaohsiung and Hsinchu.
- Wistron also proposed acquiring a Tainan factory from Coretronic as demand for advanced manufacturing capacity remains a central growth factor.
Wistron is expanding its manufacturing footprint in Taiwan as demand for advanced computing infrastructure supports further investment. In an announcement dated October 12, 2026, the company said its board had approved additional capital expenditure of NT$6.5 billion for the Kaohsiung facility and NT$591.6 million for the Hsinchu facility.
The approved spending will fund facility upgrades and the acquisition of machinery and equipment. Wistron also proposed buying a factory building in Tainan from Coretronic for a consideration of up to NT$1.0 billion, subject to the required transaction steps.
Capacity investment targets growth
The decisions point to a strategy of adding production capacity while upgrading existing sites. For investors, the expansion could support future output, but it also increases the need for demand, utilization and execution to justify the capital commitment.
The company linked the decisions to its operating expansion, while the official announcement did not provide a revised earnings forecast or a timetable for the proposed Tainan acquisition. The next material update is likely to clarify the transaction and the expected contribution of the facility.
The announcement was published by Wistron.
