- The YM Wayfinder has joined a Premier Alliance service linking Vietnam with North America.
- Yang Ming began taking delivery of five LNG dual-fuel vessels in 2026.
- Seven additional vessels of about 16,000 TEUs are scheduled for delivery in 2028 and 2029.
Yang Ming Marine Transport's YM Wayfinder made its first call at Vietnam's Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Terminal on October 23, 2026. VietnamPlus reported the event on October 24 and described the vessel's role in Yang Ming's Premier Alliance network.
New vessel links Vietnam and North America
The nearly 365-meter vessel can carry about 15,500 TEUs and has a dual-fuel engine that runs on liquefied natural gas or low-sulfur fuel oil. Its EC2 service connects Cai Mep with ports in China, South Korea, Mexico, the United States, Canada and Singapore.
The service places the new ship within Yang Ming's wider effort to modernize its fleet while maintaining long-distance liner connections. The company began taking delivery of five LNG dual-fuel vessels in 2026, according to the VietnamPlus report.
Orderbook keeps fleet transition in view
Yang Ming has ordered seven more vessels of about 16,000 TEUs each for delivery in 2028 and 2029. The ships are designed to be ready for future ammonia use, giving the fleet plan a lower-emission option beyond LNG.
For investors, the terminal call is an operational development rather than a reported earnings result. Its significance depends on route utilization, freight conditions and the cost of deploying newer vessels.
Yang Ming's shipping operations
Yang Ming operates container shipping services and participates in the Premier Alliance network. Its fleet serves international routes, including connections between Asia and North America, while newer vessels combine large container capacity with LNG dual-fuel technology. The company is based in Taiwan and is expanding the number of vessels designed for future alternative fuels.
