Audi Deploys Multi-Agent AI System to Automate Software Development for Used-Car Platform

Audi has rolled out a multi-agent artificial intelligence system to accelerate software development for its B2B used-car marketplace, the company announced on July 24, 2026. The system, built in partnership with IT services firm Comsysto Reply, relies on GitHub Copilot and is designed to handle everything from requirements analysis to code generation and quality assurance.
Three specialized AI agents now cover distinct phases of the software lifecycle. One agent handles requirement analysis, a second generates code, and a third focuses on quality assurance. This division of labor allows development tasks to run in parallel, speeding up delivery cycles.
Stefan Winkler, Dev Lead at Audi, said the agents have fundamentally changed both the speed and the working methods within the development team. The technology enables faster release of software components without compromising system integrity, he noted.
Despite the high level of automation, the system operates under a human-in-the-loop model. Developers monitor the agents’ outputs, intervene when necessary, and validate results before they go into production. The approach keeps human expertise central to the process, with AI handling repetitive tasks while engineers retain final decision-making authority and responsibility for complex problem-solving.
For Audi’s workforce, the shift means less time spent on manual coding and more on supervising and refining automated systems.
The “Used Car Platform” has become increasingly critical to Audi’s business. Since 2025, it has handled nearly 100 percent of the company’s B2B used-car transactions. The platform’s heavy usage and central role demand reliable, high-performance software — a need the new AI system is meant to address.
Audi and Comsysto Reply have worked together since 2021. The introduction of the multi-agent system marks the latest milestone in their collaboration, which aims to merge modern software engineering practices with the demands of a global automaker. By deploying tools like GitHub Copilot, Audi is positioning itself at the forefront of enterprise software automation.
