Developed with equipment supplier Treston, the stations feature electrically height-adjustable tables from the Concept series, ergonomic chairs, and specialized ESD matting for electrostatic discharge safety. Yet administrative hurdles persist despite technical advances. In Lohmar, inclusion officers reported on Wednesday that slow funding procedures hamper timely support. The municipal administration employs 42 people with disabilities, but delays in processing grants often stall assistance. A new inclusion agreement is expected to create clearer structures. Meanwhile, the Lebenshilfe and the AGBO launched a regional portal for the Ortenau district on Tuesday, consolidating information for roughly 40,000 people with disabilities and highlighting businesses that demonstrate exceptional accessibility.
Tax relief has also arrived. Since the start of 2026, staggered disability allowances apply: a degree of disability (GdB) of 20 qualifies for a deduction of €384; GdB 30, €620; and GdB 40, €860. Since 1 January, electronic transmission of GdB data to tax authorities is mandatory, cutting paperwork. Workers with a GdB of 30 may, under certain conditions, be treated as severely disabled—a status that includes enhanced protection against dismissal.
