The same week Circus SE began operating its autonomous meal-service robots for Ukrainian troops near Kyiv, the company slashed its 2026 revenue guidance by more than 90%, sending its shares into a tailspin. On Friday the stock closed at €2.15, down 13.63% on the day and 54.96% below the prior week's level — a rout that cut the company's market capitalisation to €57.21 million.

The robotics specialist now expects full-year sales of just €5.2 million, a far cry from the €44 million to €55 million it had previously projected. The operating picture is equally bleak: the EBITDA forecast was revised from a loss of €6 million to €8 million to a loss of roughly €17 million. Circus attributed the collapse to a shift in planned system deliveries from the second half of 2026 into 2027, citing serious bottlenecks in onboarding, integration and service — processes the company acknowledged it cannot yet scale profitably.

Skalierbarkeit als Achillesferse

The root cause, as the company laid out in an ad-hoc statement on July 15, lies in a structural mismatch: the upfront cost of deploying its robots is not being recovered through recurring revenue fast enough. To address this, Circus had already recruited Christian Bauer, a former Volocopter and Daimler executive, as co-CEO and CFO at the beginning of July. His predecessor Fabian Becker moved to the supervisory board of subsidiary Circus Defence SE. The leadership shake-up came just a day after Circus completed its acquisition of Belgian food-robotics firm Alberts, and one day after receiving regulatory approval to launch its CA-1 systems commercially in the United Arab Emirates.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Circus?

Yet these strategic moves did little to cushion the shock when the scale of the revenue revision became public. Analyst house mwb research responded by slashing its price target from €46.00 to €8.40 on July 16, while maintaining a "Speculative Buy" rating — a nod to the potential upside from current levels, albeit accompanied by extreme risk. Technical indicators show a Relative Strength Index of 14.0, deep in oversold territory, though fundamental concerns now dominate the narrative.

A Battlefield Test Without Commercial Payoff

Amid the financial turmoil, Circus reported on the same day that it had begun live operations of its CA-M robotic catering system with Ukraine's 3rd Assault Brigade in the Kyiv area, following certification from the country's State Service for Food Safety. The deployment, part of an agreement covering up to 25 systems, underscores the technology's viability in demanding environments. But the battlefield success story, while operationally meaningful, has done little to restore confidence in a business model that even the company itself now admits is not yet ready for serial industrial production.

With deliveries pushed into 2027 and the core revenue narrative effectively invalidated for this year, Circus SE faces a credibility gap that no single contract or certification can quickly bridge. The share price has already priced in a radical reassessment of the company's near-term prospects, leaving investors to wait and see whether the new management can convert technological promise into scalable operations before cash runs out.
