Circus SE's Revenue Guidance Sinks to €5.2 Million Amid Strategic Reprioritization

Circus SE has dramatically lowered its full-year revenue forecast, bringing it in line with a fundamental shift in corporate strategy that prioritizes system profitability over rapid market expansion. The robotics company now expects sales of just €5.2 million for 2026, down from the previous range of €44 million to €55 million, a cut that wiped roughly half the company's market value in a single day. The operating outlook also darkened: management now projects an EBITDA loss of around €17 million, compared with an earlier forecast of a loss between €6 million and €8 million.
Shares tumbled about 50% on July 16 following the ad-hoc announcement, and the selling continued in subsequent sessions. By Friday's close, the stock had fallen another 13.63% to €2.15, taking the weekly decline to 54.58%. The market capitalization now stands at €55.87 million, a fraction of its level before the guidance was slashed. The 14-day relative strength index has plunged to 14.0, deep into oversold territory, while the annualized 30-day volatility of 146.83% underscores how jittery the market has become. Over the past month, the shares have lost 65.63% of their value.
In a quarterly update call, management explained that the decision to defer system deliveries into 2027 was driven by a need to improve unit economics and secure supply chain autonomy before scaling. The company is also working to optimize its ingredient supply chain. No specific milestones for the delayed deliveries were provided, leaving investors to rely on the promise of a more profitable deployment cycle.
The guidance cut came roughly ten days after Christian Bauer was appointed as the new CFO and co-CEO on July 6, replacing Fabian Becker, who moved to the supervisory board of subsidiary Circus Defence SE. The leadership transition thus preceded the dire financial update, raising questions about the timing and the Board's awareness of the pending revision.

Amid the financial turmoil, Circus also announced an operational milestone: its autonomous catering system CA-M began supplying the Ukrainian army's 3rd Army Corps near Kyiv, marking the first deployment of robotic troop feeding in an active war zone. The system received certification from Ukraine's food safety authority. While the military application underscores the technology's potential, it did little to offset investor concern over the revenue shortfall.
The sharp revenue revision contrasts with a series of expansion moves made in the preceding weeks. In early July, Circus completed the acquisition of Belgian food robotics firm Alberts and received regulatory approval to launch commercial operations in the United Arab Emirates. The company also expanded its production capacity by 60% at its Celestica-partnered facility during the first quarter, and in April secured a financing agreement with FINEXITY AG to raise up to €50 million for AI robotics capital market placements.
Analysts at mwb research responded to the guidance cut by slashing their price target from €46.00 to €8.40, though they maintained a 'Speculative Buy' rating, indicating they still see upside from current levels despite the heightened operational risk.
Circus at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Shareholders now have their sights set on the annual general meeting scheduled for August 20, where management will face questions about how it intends to turn the unit economics focus into tangible financial results and restore confidence in the company's growth trajectory.
