Circus SE Triples EBITDA Loss Forecast as System Deployments Slip; €50 Million Financing Deal Backs Institutional Pivot

Circus SE has more than tripled its 2026 adjusted EBITDA loss projection, warning investors that the shortfall will now reach around €17 million – up from an earlier range of €6 million to €8 million. The revision, announced alongside the previously disclosed slashing of revenue guidance to just €5.2 million, sent the stock sharply lower on Monday, with shares closing at €2.06, down 4.64% on the day and 56% on the week.
The root cause of the deteriorating outlook lies in a strategic deferral of planned system deliveries. Circus has pushed a batch of commercial kitchen robot deployments from the second half of 2026 into 2027, arguing that the extra time is needed to ensure each customer project is economically viable before scaling. However, the delay strips the company of critical margin contributions this year, while fixed costs – particularly for onboarding, integration and ongoing service of its autonomous solutions – have been running higher than budgeted.
To bridge the widening gap, Circus has secured a financing package via an agreement with FINEXITY AG that covers capital market funding of up to €50 million for its AI-robotics portfolio. Management insists the company remains adequately capitalised, even with the steeper cash burn. The stock staged a partial recovery on Tuesday, rising 6.33% to €2.19, a move largely attributed to technical oversold conditions rather than a fundamental change in sentiment.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) painted an extreme picture of bearish exhaustion. After Monday’s close the 14-day RSI had fallen to 13.7, a level that typically signals a selling climax. By Tuesday’s session, with the bounce, the RSI had edged up to 16.4 – still deep in oversold territory and leaving room for further short-term counter-moves.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Circus?
Analysts have scrambled to recalibrate their models in the wake of the guidance collapse. mwb research, which in early July had assigned a €46 price target and a “buy” rating, slashed its target to €8.40 on the day of the revenue cut and downgraded the stock to “speculative buy”. The firm acknowledges long-term potential but warns of heightened risk and an increasingly strained cash position. Separately, Montega recently downgraded Circus to “hold”.
The shift in strategy is now unmistakable. Rather than chasing volume, Circus is focusing on operational autonomy per unit. One measure of progress: the daily manual intervention time required from system operators has been reduced to about 90 minutes for outputting several hundred meals. Still, the cost of achieving that autonomy has proven higher than anticipated, and the company will need the full 2027 timeline to demonstrate that the business model can be profitably scaled at the system level.
Circus is also sharpening its sector focus. The Munich-based manufacturer intends to concentrate on institutional catering, large corporate clients, and defence-related contracts. Market entry in Ukraine is earmarked as a key priority for 2026, where the company sees potential for its robotic kitchens in both civilian and military applications.
Circus at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
With the market capitalisation now whittled down to roughly €56 million, investor faith hangs on whether the delayed rollouts and tighter project economics will finally pay off. The financing line from FINEXITY provides near-term breathing room, but the clock is now ticking on a 2027 delivery schedule that has yet to prove itself in the field.
