CrowdStrike’s recent 4-for-1 stock split, which took effect at the start of the week, mechanically cut the share price from roughly $767 to $194. The adjustment left the company’s economic value untouched, but it set the stage for a flurry of analyst target revisions — and a notable sale from Jim Cramer’s CNBC Investing Club.

The Charitable Trust run by Cramer unloaded 95 CrowdStrike shares on July 6 at around $205 each, trimming the portfolio’s holding to 785 shares. The move reduced the position’s weight from 4.5% to 4%. Coming just a day after the stock had rallied about 6% to yet another record high, the sale was framed as a routine rebalance rather than a bearish call. The Trust noted it had bought heavily in March near a 52-week low of roughly $86, and the position was now sitting on a gain of around 140% since November 2024. A similar reduction had been made in Palo Alto Networks the prior week.

While one high-profile investor took some chips off the table, UBS struck a markedly more optimistic tone. After holding direct meetings with CrowdStrike management during a European investor roadshow, the Swiss bank raised its price target from $198 to $235 and reiterated a buy-equivalent rating. CEO Michael Sentonas and CFO Burt Podbere reportedly conveyed strong demand signals, with clients pouring money into cybersecurity to defend against evolving threats. UBS now argues that CrowdStrike is entering a fresh growth cycle, powered by artificial intelligence, and that the company is displacing legacy rivals at an accelerating pace. The bank described CrowdStrike’s competitive positioning as the strongest in the entire sector.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying CrowdStrike?

The divergence in sentiment extends across Wall Street. Barclays rates the stock overweight but with a relatively restrained target of $169. Morgan Stanley set its fair value at $172 while expecting the 23% revenue growth of the past twelve months to prove durable. Stifel sits at the other extreme with a $220 target. These adjustments all followed the split, with some houses simply recalculating previous targets to reflect the new share count, while others like UBS used the opportunity to upgrade their outlook.

Despite the bullish narrative from the management team and several analysts, valuation remains a lightning rod. CrowdStrike’s price-to-sales ratio has climbed to 38.7, the highest since its 2019 IPO and well above most peers in the cybersecurity space. InvestingPro’s model flags the stock as overvalued. The 14-day relative strength index sits at 64.4 — bullish but not yet overbought — while the annualized volatility of nearly 52% underscores how sharply the shares can swing on fresh bank estimates or macroeconomic headlines.

Cramer’s Trust was careful to emphasize that the sale was not a vote of no confidence. It continues to believe that AI-driven security spending will underpin CrowdStrike’s long-term growth. The reduction, they explained, was simply a risk-management exercise after an extraordinary run: the stock had gained 75% year-to-date through early July and 22% over the prior seven trading sessions alone. For investors parsing the conflicting signals, the episode serves as a reminder that even the most fervent bulls occasionally take profits — especially when a stock split has lowered the entry point but not the fundamental debate around price.
