Future Fuels Uncovers Major Exploration Targets at Hornby Basin

Canadian exploration company Future Fuels has reported significant new findings from its Hornby Basin uranium project in Nunavut. A comprehensive ground gravity survey has pinpointed six high-priority anomalies, including one that aligns precisely with the historic Mountain Lake uranium system. This new data suggests the potential resource could be substantially larger than previous estimates indicated.

The 2025 survey, conducted by EarthEx Geophysical Solutions, has produced the most detailed district-wide dataset for the Hornby Basin to date. The work, which more than doubled the historical data pool, integrated new measurements with existing information from 2022 and 2024. Using Scintrex CG-5 gravimeters and a high-precision RTK-GNSS system, the company created a rasterized dataset with 12.5-meter resolution that shows strong correlation with mapped stratigraphy.

Four of the identified gravity anomalies (Grav_Anom_1 through -4) are situated between the geologically significant Helmut and Imperial faults. Two of these are located directly at stratigraphic boundaries known to influence uranium deposition.

Gravity Signature Points to Deeper Potential

A key technical breakthrough involves the anomaly over the known Mountain Lake system (Grav_Anom_5). Despite the uranium occurrence being hosted in low-density sediments near the surface, a distinct positive gravity anomaly was detected. This indicates a measurable density signature at depth, providing direct evidence that gravity surveys can effectively identify roll-front or structure-bound uranium systems within the basin.

Another promising target, Grav_Anom_6, represents a previously unknown area. It shares a similar structural setting with the productive Mountain Lake system but has never been drill-tested. Two additional anomalies within the central structural block were found to extend beyond the current survey limits.

Next Steps: Advanced Modeling and a 2026 Drill Campaign

Future Fuels is currently reviewing EarthEx's recommendations for the project's next phase. Proposed work includes a high-resolution 3D inversion of the complete dataset, 2D modeling along geologically mapped profiles, and enhanced frequency-domain filtering to distinguish between structural, stratigraphic, and mineralization-related density contrasts.

These insights are directly informing an ambitious 2026 exploration program. The plan currently includes a 10,000-meter drilling campaign, supplementary geophysical work, and the construction of a seasonal exploration camp. The Hornby Project encompasses the entire 3,407 km² Hornby Basin, which hosts over 40 underexplored uranium occurrences. The southern domain is considered the most prospective for imminent drilling, with the untested Grav_Anom_6 anomaly being a particularly high-priority target due to its structural similarity to Mountain Lake.
