Green Bridge Metals has secured the final regulatory go-ahead for its Serpentine copper-nickel project in Minnesota, just as the junior explorer’s stock slides further into technically oversold territory. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources approved the exploration plan on 2 July 2026, paving the way for field work in St. Louis County. Contractor Foraco International has been retained to carry out at least 1,640 metres of diamond core drilling, with the first holes scheduled to start in August.

The dual narrative of operational progress and persistent share price weakness has defined the Vancouver-based company’s recent story. On Friday, the stock closed at €0.10, a marginal 1.48% gain from the previous session, but the medium-term picture is starkly different. Over the past seven days the shares have shed 8.13%, and the 30-day decline stands at 20.66%. That leaves the €0.10 level well below both the 50-day moving average of €0.12 and the 200-day average of €0.11. From the year’s high of €0.23 set in February, the stock has lost more than half its value.

Technical indicators now point to an overhang that could soon reverse. The 14-day relative strength index has dropped to 34.8, creeping into the zone many chartists view as oversold. Annualised 30-day volatility sits at 65.8% – a figure that underscores the extreme swings typical of early-stage explorers. Despite the recent slide, the year-to-date return remains a positive 50%, a reminder of just how far the stock has already travelled this year.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Green Bridge Metals?

The company’s near-term catalyst is the forthcoming drilling programme at Serpentine, a project located about 5.5 kilometres southeast of Babbitt, Minnesota. The property sits adjacent to established deposits such as NorthMet and Sunrise within the Duluth Complex, a formation that hosts some of the largest undeveloped copper-nickel resources in North America. Green Bridge Metals reports indicated resources of 21.6 million tonnes grading 0.46% copper and 0.16% nickel, plus inferred resources of 279.9 million tonnes at 0.37% copper and 0.12% nickel. The 2026 campaign aims to tighten the geological model and reduce geo-statistical uncertainty, while metallurgical testing will assess how economically the metals can be processed.

CEO David Suda described the step as a shift toward “disciplined technical work,” adding that the first phase is designed to test high-priority zones that could reinforce the existing resource estimate. Foraco International already has boots on the ground in the region, currently working on Green Bridge Metals’ nearby Titac project. That familiarity should help accelerate mobilisation.

The company’s drill-ready status coincides with a broader policy shift in Washington. In February 2026 the US government announced new initiatives for critical minerals, including planned price floors and special trade zones aimed at shielding domestic producers from volatile international markets. That lowers the price risk for raw materials such as copper and nickel, which are essential for both clean energy technologies and defence applications. For a project still in its early exploration phase, such government backing can improve the investment calculus significantly.

Green Bridge Metals reported a cash balance of roughly C$4 million, management said, which should be sufficient to complete the first phase of its 2026 exploration strategy. With the drill bit set to turn in August, the market’s attention now shifts to whether assay results can alter the technical picture of the deposit – and finally break the spell of falling share prices.
