IREN’s $4 Billion Revenue Ambition Ignites a $29 Analyst Divide as the Stock Stages a Two-Day Comeback

Can IREN Limited turn a $2.8 billion contract package into a functioning AI cloud business? That question is now at the heart of a sharp divergence on Wall Street, where Goldman Sachs and Jefferies have staked out targets that differ by $29 per share — a spread that underscores the uncertainty surrounding the former Bitcoin miner’s pivot to artificial-intelligence infrastructure.
The stock has responded with a two-day rally. On Monday, shares surged 20.32% to close at €35.31 after the company disclosed a series of multi-year agreements with leading AI developers worth a combined $2.8 billion. Tuesday added another 4.26%, lifting the stock to €36.82. The total move of roughly 25% marks a dramatic reversal from the weeks before, when the name was caught in a sell-off that erased more than 40% of its value in a month.
Contract Backing for a Raised Target
The catalyst is a major upward revision to IREN’s 2026 revenue outlook. Management now targets an annualized AI cloud revenue run rate of more than $4 billion, up from the prior goal of $3.7 billion. Crucially, approximately 85% of that figure is already under contract, providing a degree of forward visibility that typically commands a premium in the infrastructure space.
Among the clients behind the $2.8 billion deal flow are some of the biggest names in AI: Microsoft, Nvidia, Perplexity, Figure AI, Together AI, Fluidstack, Fireworks AI, Fal AI and Hume AI, with another large developer also on board. The breadth of the customer base has been noted even by analysts who remain cautious. Goldman Sachs, which reiterated a neutral rating and a $50 price target, praised the diversification as a genuine positive — but stopped short of raising its valuation.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying IREN?
Analysts Staked Out Across a Wide Range
Jefferies took a far more aggressive stance. The bank initiated coverage with a buy recommendation and a $79 target, citing IREN’s owned land bank with power access, its GPU-cloud strategy and its in-house data centers. Freedom Capital also upgraded the stock to buy with a $58 price target, arguing that the recent sector sell-off was merely a reset ahead of multi-year revenue growth as new capacity comes online.
The consensus over the past three months leans bullish: eight buy ratings, two holds and one sell, with an average price target of $77.20 — implying potential upside of roughly 130% from current levels. Yet the chasm between the lowest and highest forecasts highlights the debate’s intensity. The stock still trades about 18% below its 50-day moving average of €44.88, signaling that the medium-term downtrend has not yet decisively broken.
Power, Prepayments and Execution Risk
What makes IREN a compelling wager for bulls is its access to electricity — the scarce commodity that is rapidly becoming the bottleneck for AI buildout. The company holds significant power rights in Texas and aims to scale its AI cloud capacity from an initial 3 megawatts to 480 megawatts by 2026, and eventually to 1.2 gigawatts by 2027. At the end of June, it reported roughly $7.6 billion in liquidity, giving it the capital to fund that expansion.
The financial structure of the new contracts softens the risk further. Customer prepayments are expected to cover about 45% of the investment in GPU capacity, removing a substantial portion of the construction burden from IREN’s balance sheet. The market capitalization climbed to €10.52 billion on the back of the Monday rally.
IREN at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Still, skeptics warn that the stock’s rebound reflects a sentiment shift rather than a fundamental reassessment. Goldman’s decision to hold at neutral, even as rivals issued more aggressive calls, suggests that the market is not yet convinced IREN can successfully transform contracted capacity into billable infrastructure. The stock remains 48.53% below its 52-week high of €68.61, reached in November 2025, a reminder of how far it has fallen — and how much it would need to climb to reclaim that ground.
The next reality check comes at the end of August, when IREN reports quarterly earnings. The numbers will reveal whether the hardware is being deployed as promised or whether the contracts remain paper assets. With a 30-day annualized volatility above 101%, every data point will carry outsized weight.
