Lockheed Martin Expands Japan Link-Up as SPY-7 Component Goes Domestic; ER GMLRS Test Demonstrates Extended Reach

Strategic partnership with Fujitsu

Under the agreement, Fujitsu becomes the official supplier for the Power Supply Line Replaceable Unit (PS LRU) of the SPY-7 radar’s Subarray Suite. This component will now be manufactured in Japan and serves the Aegis System Equipped Vessels (ASEV) of the Japanese Navy.

The SPY-7 radar provides the capability to detect and track multiple threats simultaneously. The collaboration follows a May 2025 memorandum of understanding and reflects the growing importance of regional defense capacities amid the security dynamics in the Indo-Pacific.

ER GMLRS test successfully completed

At the White Sands testing range, Lockheed Martin conducted the Extended-Range Guided MMLRS test for the first time from an M270A2 launcher. The missile traveled 112 kilometers, completing the system qualification for the Alternative Warhead variant.

The ER GMLRS doubles the range of the standard GMLRS and substantially enhances the striking power of existing weapons systems. In the first half of the year, operational tests with U.S. troops are planned before the system proceeds to field deployment.

Together, these developments underscore Lockheed Martin’s execution strength in international collaboration and continued advancement of its product lineup.
