Nebius has spent the past twelve months proving just how quickly an AI infrastructure specialist can go from niche to indispensable. The stock closed Friday at €193.00, up 2.02% on the day, lifting its twelve-month gain to 384.92%. Yet that towering number coexists with a 26% drawdown from its 52-week high of €261.00, reached on June 22, and a recent one-day crash of 17% triggered by the same customer that helped fuel its ascent.

The contradiction captures the peculiar pressures facing Nebius: a company that counts both Nvidia and Meta among its marquee partners, but must now navigate a relationship with the latter that turned suddenly competitive. The upheaval began in early July when Meta announced “Meta Compute,” a plan to rent out its own surplus AI capacity. For Nebius, the news hit like a bolt — Meta is not just any customer; it signed a five-year, $27 billion agreement that includes $12 billion in firm commitments and $15 billion in optional capacity.

When a paying client becomes a potential rival, the market punishes first and asks questions later. The 17% plunge reflected fears that Meta would internalize capacity that Nebius had counted on selling. But the sell-off also drew skepticism from analysts who saw the panic as overdone. Research firm SemiAnalysis argued that Meta’s expanding AI ambitions will require more external infrastructure partners, not fewer, while Roth Capital described the sector-wide rout as excessive.

Nebius’s management has tried to calm nerves by pointing out that the Meta contract is structured flexibly — capacity can be shifted between Meta and higher-margin AI cloud clients, preserving pricing power. That nuance is critical because the company’s valuation rests on its ability to command premium rates for specialized services rather than selling commoditized compute.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nebius?

A separate relationship has been an unequivocal bright spot. Nvidia’s decision to take a capital stake in Nebius served as a de facto endorsement of the company’s data-center architecture, particularly its cooling and power efficiency. At a time when access to electricity has become the scarcest resource in AI, Nebius is targeting nearly one gigawatt of capacity by the end of 2026, up from 170 megawatts. Nvidia’s vote of confidence helped drive the stock 152.29% higher since the start of the year.

That rapid run-up left Nebius trading at a hefty premium, and the chart has since settled into a more subdued pattern. The 14-day relative strength index sits at a neutral 46.6, indicating that the euphoria from the summer highs has largely dissipated. The stock is now trading about 2% below its 50-day moving average of €196.93, while remaining 63.74% above its 200-day average of €117.87 — a reminder that the longer-term uptrend remains intact despite the recent turbulence.

Volatility, however, is far from gone. The annualized 30-day volatility stands at roughly 99%, a level that reflects how quickly sentiment can flip when a single headline carries the weight of Meta’s. The company’s market capitalization has swelled to €48.11 billion in just over a year, a size that makes such swings even more eye-catching.

Nebius at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Underneath the price action, the business continues to accelerate. Nebius generated an annualized revenue run rate of $1.25 billion by the fourth quarter, up from just $105 million in the second quarter of the prior year. For the 2026 fiscal year, management expects more than $3 billion in turnover, with the potential to double again in 2027. To support that growth, the company has also struck a partnership with Bloom Energy to secure additional power for its data centers.

The fundamental question for investors now is whether Nebius can hold its ground as hyperscalers like Meta begin offering cloud services of their own. The stock’s recovery from the July sell-off suggests that some market participants believe the answer is yes — that the demand for specialized, sovereign- and engineer-intensive AI clouds dwarfs what even the largest tech companies can self-supply. But with a forward trajectory built on high capital expenditure and razor-thin margin tolerance, Nebius remains a high-stakes bet on the physical infrastructure of the AI revolution.
