Novo Nordisk is entering a defining stretch of 2026, with two high-stakes catalysts converging over the coming months. The Danish pharmaceutical giant will present a fresh wave of clinical data from its rare-disease pipeline at the ISTH congress in Paris from July 11 to 15, while investors anxiously await a US regulatory verdict on its experimental obesity drug CagriSema later in the fourth quarter. The outcome of both events will help determine whether the stock can sustain its recent recovery from a near-29% year-to-date slump.

At the Paris conference, Novo Nordisk plans to showcase detailed results from two hemophilia candidates. The company will release new findings from the FRONTIER4 study of Denecimig, an antibody designed to prevent bleeding episodes in haemophilia A patients. Denecimig has already been submitted to the US Food and Drug Administration for approval, with the filing completed in September 2025. If cleared, it would offer flexible dosing intervals ranging from weekly to once a month, and Phase 3 data have shown a roughly 50% reduction in annualised bleeding rates compared with prophylactic treatments, with bleeds nearly eliminated versus on-demand therapy alone.

A second candidate, Concizumab, is being studied in the Explorer10 trial, which focuses on children under the age of 11 – a group that often lacks adequate treatment options. Positive data here could significantly strengthen Novo Nordisk’s foothold in the rare-disease market, an area the company has been deliberately elevating beyond its better-known obesity franchise.

That core weight-loss business, however, is where the biggest near-term risk lies. CagriSema, a combination therapy, is under FDA review with a decision anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2026. In the REDEFINE-1 study, patients lost an average of 22.7% of their body weight after 68 weeks, and a longer-term analysis at 84 weeks showed 23% weight loss. While impressive, those figures fall short of the 25.5% reduction achieved by Eli Lilly’s Tirzepatid in head-to-head trials – a threshold many market watchers had set as the benchmark for premium pricing.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Novo Nordisk?

Pricing pressure is mounting across the US market. Novo Nordisk has already announced it will cut list prices for Wegovy and Ozempic from January 2027, and a major US pharmacy-benefit manager has signalled a preference for Eli Lilly’s drugs, threatening future revenues. At the same time, the patent on Semaglutide is expiring in China, a market that accounts for roughly 6.5% of group sales, opening the door for local copycats to erode margins. Management now forecasts a constant-currency decline in both revenue and operating profit of between 4% and 12% for the full year 2026.

The company is leaning on capital returns to shore up investor confidence. A multi-billion-share buyback programme launched in February has seen Novo Nordisk repurchase nearly 21 million shares for about 5.6 billion Danish kroner through mid-June, out of a total allocation of 15 billion kroner. The stock has responded positively, trading recently at €42.18 – a gain of approximately 10% over the past 30 days, though still well off its 52-week high. A week earlier, the shares were at €41.27 after a seven-day rally.

Looking ahead, the next fundamental test will come with second-quarter earnings, where analysts will scrutinise patient retention rates for the oral Wegovy tablet. Early data suggest nearly 80% of tablet users are new to GLP-1 therapy, and the pill now accounts for about 60% of new US prescriptions. Sustained adherence at higher doses will be key to building durable revenue streams.

Novo Nordisk at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

A smooth FDA review of CagriSema without additional requests could provide lasting support for the stock, but any delay would leave Novo Nordisk exposed just as pricing headwinds intensify. The company’s ability to offset declining US prices with volume growth abroad will determine whether the current rebound is merely a temporary bounce or the start of a sustained recovery.
