Ondas Holdings' Revenue Explodes 1,000% to $50M, But Market Focus Shifts to $199M Omnisys Deal and Cash Burn

Ondas Holdings reported a 1,000% revenue jump to $50.1M and a surprise profit, yet shares sank on extreme volatility. Strong acquisitions and raised guidance contrast with market jitters.

The numbers coming out of Ondas Holdings would typically set a stock on fire. Revenue for the first quarter of 2026 hit $50.1 million — a surge of more than 1,000% from the $4.3 million reported a year earlier. Earnings per share swung to a profit of $0.56, confounding analyst expectations of a loss. Yet when the dust settled, shares had given back all their intraday gains and then some.

On Monday, the stock spiked 21% to an intraday high of $10.72 before closing 9.6% lower. By Tuesday, it had slipped further to €8.26, leaving the year-to-date decline at roughly 12%. Over the trailing 12 months, the gain still stands at an eye-popping 850% to 872%, but the recent volatility — the annualized 30-day reading sits above 122% — has made investors jittery. The relative strength index has fallen to 34, a level many technicians consider oversold.

Behind the headline revenue figure lies a gross margin that has improved sharply, though the exact figure varies between reports: one filing put it at 45%, while another company statement cited 49%. Either way, the improvement from 35% a year earlier reflects a more favorable product mix and scaling benefits, driven primarily by the autonomous drone segment.

The growth surge is no accident. Ondas has been on an aggressive acquisition spree, snapping up six defense-sector companies in recent months. The most notable deal is the $199 million all-stock purchase of Israeli AI software specialist Omnisys Ltd. That transaction, along with the completed takeovers of Mistral and World View Enterprises, has ballooned the pro-forma order backlog to $457 million — a 570% jump since the end of 2025.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Ondas Holdings?

Management last week raised its full-year revenue guidance to at least $390 million, up from a previous forecast, and pointed to a healthy cash position as fuel for further expansion. The company ended March with $1.48 billion in cash and short-term investments, though management itself has described the war chest as roughly $1 billion — a discrepancy that may reflect different points in the financing timeline.

On the profitability front, Ondas remains in an intensive investment phase. The product segment reached EBITDA break-even six months earlier than planned. The autonomous systems unit is expected to follow by the first quarter of 2027, and management targets overall company profitability for the first quarter of 2028. Peak operating losses are anticipated in the current second quarter.

Despite the market's jitters, institutional interest appears solid. One large asset manager doubled its stake in the prior quarter, and the majority of analysts maintain buy ratings. The company also scored two operational wins: its American Robotics Optimus drone earned a spot on the DCMA Blue UAS Cleared List, easing federal procurement, and it secured a new defense contract in the Asia-Pacific region.

Ondas Holdings at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

All eyes now turn to the annual general meeting on May 28, where shareholders will vote on the strategic direction. For a company that has posted a 1,065% revenue increase in a single quarter, the biggest question is how quickly that $457 million backlog can be converted into cash — and whether the market can stomach the cost of getting there.
