Redwood AI’s ambition to push into quantum-resistant cybersecurity is meeting a chilly reception on the Canadian exchange. The company’s binding agreement to acquire Vancouver-based Quantum.IQ Technologies, signed on 26 June 2026, has been overshadowed by the terms of the deal: an all-stock payout that hands up to 14 million shares to the target’s owners. Seven million base shares are valued at roughly US$2.98 apiece, with an additional seven million tied to revenue and EBITDA hurdles – Quantum.IQ must generate up to C$20 million in annual sales with a margin of at least 10% before those milestone shares vest.

The market’s immediate reaction was to sell. On Tuesday, Redwood AI’s stock slipped 2.81% to close at €1.73, extending a seven-day slide of 2.54%. The annualised 30-day volatility has ballooned to 207.05%, and the relative strength index sits at 24.5 – deep in oversold territory. The dilution concern is acute: each new share issued in the buyout increases the float, putting pressure on existing holders even as the company touts its strategic expansion beyond artificial intelligence and operational intelligence into cryptography.

Just days before the deal was signed, Redwood AI received a separate boost: on 2 July 2026, it was admitted to the CSE25 Index, which tracks the 25 largest companies on the Canadian Securities Exchange by market capitalisation and covers more than 75% of the broader CSE Composite Index’s weight. Chief executive Louis Dron has publicly positioned the index promotion as a way to raise the company’s profile among institutional investors, but the stock has moved in the opposite direction. The listing on both Refinitiv and Bloomberg’s benchmarks has so far failed to absorb the selling pressure or arrest the decline.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Redwood AI?

Underpinning the market’s caution is a fragile balance sheet. For the six months ended 28 February 2026, Redwood AI posted a net loss of roughly C$10.93 million, with no revenue from operations. Cash on hand stood at just C$2.22 million, earmarked mainly for the Reactosphere platform and the Q-SAFE programme, the latter supported by a grant of up to C$240,000 from the National Research Council of Canada. The company remains in a pre-revenue phase, making the Quantum.IQ milestone targets all the more critical – and uncertain.

The broader technology sector is not helping. On 7 July 2026, global indices turned lower as investor sentiment soured. Samsung dropped nearly 7% despite a sharp profit rise, and SpaceX shed more than 5% on its first trading day after joining the Nasdaq-100. The “sell-the-news” pattern has become common across tech and semiconductor names, with good news failing to lift valuations as traders take profits after catalysts are priced in.

For Redwood AI, the coming weeks hinge on two developments: progress integrating Quantum.IQ and updates on patent filings for cryptographic AI technology. With a thin cash buffer and an all-stock acquisition that will further dilute equity, the company’s ability to meet the Quantum.IQ revenue milestones – and convince investors that the quantum cybersecurity pivot is worth the wait – will determine whether the oversold RSI finally triggers a reversal or merely marks another pause in a long decline.
