Salesforce Faces Data Security Crisis Amid AI Product Launch

A significant data breach has impacted Salesforce, the customer relationship management leader, casting a shadow over the company’s security reputation at a critical juncture. The incident, disclosed on Saturday, affects more than 200 corporate clients and emerges just as Salesforce prepares to launch its ambitious Agentforce Commerce artificial intelligence platform.
According to research from Google’s Threat Intelligence Group, hackers identified as “Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters” gained unauthorized access to customer information through a backdoor approach. Rather than breaching Salesforce’s direct infrastructure, the attackers compromised authentication tokens belonging to Gainsight, a third-party service provider.
