Singulus Technologies: Auction for 16.75% Stake Begins as Stock's Spectacular Run Hits a Pause

The formal bidding process for Triumph Science & Technology's controlling stake in Singulus Technologies is now underway, giving potential acquirers exactly ten days to submit offers. The Chinese blockholder is looking to offload its entire holding of 1,489,997 shares — representing roughly 16.75% of the company's equity — to a single buyer, setting the stage for a potential shift in strategic direction at the thin-film and wet-chemical machinery specialist.
Investors had been anticipating this move since mid-June, but the official start on July 3, 2026 injected a fresh dose of uncertainty into a stock that has already delivered extraordinary returns. After touching a 52-week high of €11.10 just a day earlier, Singulus shares pulled back sharply, shedding 11.11% on Monday to close at €9.60. The retreat came amid profit-taking that some market observers attribute not only to the Triumph news but also to position reductions by other institutional stakeholders, including FPM Funds and Universal-Investment.
Despite the recent pullback, the year-to-date performance remains staggering. Singulus has surged 555.29% since January, a rally that lifted the stock from a low of €1.20 in October 2025 to its recent peak. The run has been fueled by robust operational improvements: in the first quarter of 2026, revenue climbed 33% to roughly €22 million, while operating profit quadrupled to €2.2 million. The company's recovery in its core semiconductor and solar equipment markets has clearly resonated with investors.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Singulus?
However, the technical picture is starting to flash warning signals. The relative strength index stands at 67.8, edging toward overbought territory. More strikingly, the share price now trades 226% above its 200-day moving average of €2.94, and 53% above its 50-day average of €6.25. Such extreme divergences often precede mean-reversion moves, and the 30-day volatility reading of 102.50% underscores that sharp swings remain the norm.
The outcome of the auction will be decisive for the stock's trajectory. If a credible buyer emerges for the Triumph block, the strategic overhaul — and the speculative froth that accompanies it — could accelerate. But if the ten-day window closes without a compelling offer, the rally's foundation will be significantly weakened. The market is now entirely dependent on signals from the bidding process, a situation that is likely to keep volatility elevated until a new anchor shareholder is confirmed.
