Sivers Semiconductors: Balancing a 46% Rally Against Auditor Red Flags and a 2027 AI Laser Promise

Analyst recasts Sivers as key AI laser supplier by 2027, but 22% revenue drop, going concern doubts, and insider sales temper the 46% monthly rally.

Sivers Semiconductors: AI Laser Supplier Thesis vs. Stock Rally Risks

A fresh analyst thesis is challenging the market’s narrow view of Sivers Semiconductors. The Swedish chipmaker, best known for its work in co-packaged optics, is being recast as a pivotal laser supplier for the next generation of AI infrastructure. Analyst “Serenity” argues in a June 21 note that Sivers’ optical components are compatible with multiple emerging technology routes — pluggable, scale-out CPO, scale-up CPO and near-package optics — positioning it less as a niche play and more as a potential bottleneck in the entire optical AI ecosystem. The bet: from roughly 2027, surging demand for high-bandwidth interconnects inside AI clusters could catapult laser orders for Sivers.

That long-term narrative is colliding with a fiery short-term rally. The stock has gained 46% over the past month alone, hitting €9.28 on the latest session after a 7% single-day jump. Yet the balance sheet tells a more troubled story. First-quarter 2026 revenue slumped 22% year-on-year, and the company posted a net loss of nearly 43 million Swedish kronor. Management blamed delayed US defence budgets and adverse currency moves, but investors are also eyeing a more ominous signal: auditors recently cast doubt on the group’s ability to continue as a going concern.

The operational picture is not without bright spots. Sivers’ project pipeline ballooned 77% through May to almost $800 million, fuelled by the satellite communications boom and rising AI infrastructure spend. A key production win came from ALL.SPACE, which placed an $8.2 million order for specialised radio-frequency chips destined for tactical terminals, with series production stretching to 2027. The contract bolsters Sivers’ footprint in North America and Europe. But concrete customer commitments for the laser business that the analyst sees as transformative remain undisclosed, keeping the thesis largely in the realm of technology adoption risk.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Sivers Semiconductors?

Compounding the tension, insider stock sales have been flagged in recent months — a pattern that often unsettles retail holders. Management, however, maintains its three-year profitability target and insists the company can turn operations around. The market, for now, is ignoring those risks. The stock is trading about 9% below its 2026 peak of €10.23 set in early June, having rebounded from a March low of €0.27. The 52-week high of €10.23 still sits roughly 15% above current levels, leaving room for bulls to argue the rerating is incomplete.

Volatility is extreme. The annualised 30-day swing stands at over 236% — a figure that underscores how speculative the equity has become. The relative strength index at 60.5 suggests neutral-to-slightly-overbought conditions, offering little directional conviction. Analyst Serenity expects broad adoption of new optical architectures in AI data centres from around 2027, which would directly benefit Sivers if its laser technology becomes the go-to supply. Until then, the stock remains a wager on engineering milestones and market penetration rather than booked revenue.

For now, Sivers Semiconductors offers a stark contrast between near-term financial strain and a potentially lucrative long-term role in the AI supply chain. The second half of the decade will tell whether the company can survive its current cash burn and deliver on the laser promise. If the operating turnaround fails to materialise, the rally that has already multiplied the share price more than 20-fold from its March trough could unwind just as violently.
