Two Workers Killed in Separate Metal Processing Accidents on Same Day

Fatal incidents at metal processing facilities in India and Malaysia on July 11 have left two workers dead and sparked protests over workplace safety standards. Co-workers reported Shahidul missing before confirming he had fallen into the hot metal ladle. The worker had been married just 20 days before the incident.

In response, workers staged a protest at the plant gates, alleging that negligence contributed to the death. Trade unions are demanding ?50 lakh in compensation for the family, a permanent job for Shahidul's wife, and an independent investigation into the plant's safety protocols. Union representatives noted that similar accidents have occurred at the facility in the past.

Steel Authority of India Limited Chairman Dr. Ashok Panda held an emergency virtual meeting following the incident. Plant management has launched an internal investigation to determine the cause of the fall.

Boiler Fire Kills Worker in Malaysia

In a separate incident on the same day, a 30-year-old foreign worker died after a boiler fire at an iron processing factory in Kapar, Klang. The fire broke out in a 20-foot by 20-foot boiler unit.
