Update, POSCO Holdings secures bond demand, shares in focus

POSCO Holdings (ADR) (KR7005490008) is tied to a new financing milestone in Korea. Reuters-style coverage in South Korean press says POSCO International priced its first-ever global dollar bond at $500 million, with total orders reaching $2 billion.

Bond demand in Korea

The bond carries a five-year maturity and was priced at 90 basis points above U.S. Treasuries, after demand reached four times the issue size. That detail comes from Sedaily's report and from The Korea Times.

POSCO International is a separate listed unit, but the deal matters for the wider POSCO group because it shows access to international funding in volatile markets. The issue also comes after a broad risk-off session in South Korea, where the benchmark KOSPI was reported to have plunged more than 6% in market commentary.

The South Korean market backdrop is the local anchor for the move. A market alert on the session said the benchmark index dropped more than 6% and triggered a temporary trading halt, underlining the stress in regional risk assets.
