The price war gripping Europe’s global index fund market reaches another milestone this week. Vanguard’s FTSE All-World UCITS ETF, a behemoth with $75.7 billion in assets, is slashing its total expense ratio from 0.19% to 0.14%, effective Tuesday. It marks the second reduction in less than 12 months — the fund’s fee stood at 0.22% as recently as October.

Yet even after the cut, Vanguard’s flagship offering remains pricier than the cheapest alternatives. Both BlackRock and DWS have launched competing products tracking the same FTSE All-World index in recent months, each charging just 0.12%. The gap has narrowed, but Vanguard still cedes the low-cost crown.

That hasn’t stopped investors from piling in. The ETF has pulled in roughly $18.2 billion in net inflows since the start of the year — more than double the haul of its nearest rival. For context, the State Street SPDR MSCI All-Country World UCITS ETF, which charges 0.12%, has gathered about $18.6 billion in total volume over the same stretch. The numbers suggest that for many buyers, liquidity depth and brand trust outweigh a few basis points of fee differential.

The fund closed Friday at €163.78, up 0.10% on the day and just 1.99% below its 52-week high of €167.10, set on June 22. Year-to-date, the ETF has gained 12.67%, while the 12-month return stands at 22.92%. The relative strength index sits at 47.9, signaling neutral territory — neither overbought nor oversold — and leaving room for further upside.

Technically, the €163.62 level — the 50-day moving average — is providing near-term support. The fund’s closing price on Friday landed just above that threshold, keeping the door open for a challenge of the June record high in the coming sessions.

Vanguard plans to publish a supplement to its sales prospectus around the fee-change date, formally documenting the new cost structure. Brokers and platforms are expected to update their displayed rates only after that official confirmation.

Under the hood, the index’s composition tells a more concentrated story than its 3,782 holdings suggest. U.S. stocks account for roughly 61.7% of the portfolio, with Nvidia leading at about 4.5% and Apple close behind at 4.0%. The top ten positions in the S&P 500 now represent approximately 41.5% of that index’s total value — up from around 18% a decade ago. Investors buying a broadly diversified world ETF are, in effect, acquiring an increasingly tech-heavy portfolio.

Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF USD Accumulation at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The fee cut itself is the most concrete event on this week’s calendar, but the fund’s trajectory remains tied to the broader FTSE All-World index — and, by extension, to global equity sentiment, currency moves, and corporate earnings across developed and emerging markets.
